Jerrett DeFazio – General Manager, Renfrew Wolves

Born and raised in Ottawa, Jerrett DeFazio’s deep family ties to the Ottawa Valley have influenced his life and career. With Irish ancestors who originally settled in the hills of Thorne, Jerrett spent much of his childhood visiting the Valley and countless hours in the local rinks, fueling his love for hockey and community. Now, as General Manager of the Renfrew Wolves, Jerrett is proud to bring his experience and passion for the game back to the region.

Jerrett’s hockey journey began as a dominant junior player known for his high hockey IQ and elite goal-scoring abilities. At just 16, he set records in the CCHL, scoring 64 goals and 111 points for the Ottawa Jr. Senators during the 1987-88 season, leading to his first-round draft selection by the OHL’s Ottawa 67’s. He went on to score 190 points over 183 games under the legendary coach Brian Kilrea, cementing his status as a top prospect.

After a brief professional career, Jerrett shifted his focus to academics, playing for the Saint Mary’s University Men’s Varsity hockey team for four seasons. Upon retiring from playing, he seamlessly transitioned into coaching, starting as an assistant coach with the St. Francis Xavier X-Men, where he spent six years honing his skills as a coach and mentor.

Throughout his coaching career, Jerrett has remained connected to the Ottawa Valley and local hockey, coaching at all levels and guiding teams to success. His five-year tenure as Head Coach with the Nepean Raiders was marked by back-to-back league championships in 2018-19 (Pembroke U18AAA) and 2021-22 (Nepean U18AAA), demonstrating his ability to develop winning teams and strong players.

In addition to his coaching experience, Jerrett’s career has also included roles with Hockey Canada, as well as national-level involvement with the Boys and Girls Clubs and Boy Scouts. His passion for youth development and sports extends beyond hockey, as he has been committed to shaping the lives of young people through various programs.

As a proud father of four grown children, Jerrett’s dedication to youth and sports is a central part of his life. His experience as a regional scout for the OHL’s Sudbury Wolves and his HP1 coaching certification further solidify his standing as one of Ottawa’s top hockey minds.

After two successful seasons as Assistant General Manager with the CCHL’s Nepean Raiders, Jerrett helped lead the team to their second-best record in a decade during the 2023-24 season. Now, as the General Manager of the Renfrew Wolves for the 2024-25 season, Jerrett is eager to continue building a strong and competitive program that reflects his passion for hockey and youth development.

With deep roots in the Ottawa Valley and a career dedicated to sports and mentorship, Jerrett is excited to lead the Renfrew Wolves and contribute to the vibrant hockey culture that has always been a part of his life.

Jason Gould – Head Coach, Renfrew Wolves

Jason began his coaching career 19 years ago, working with a variety of teams and age groups, including Rep B, AA, AAA, Junior B, and Junior A levels. Over nearly two decades, he has developed a deep understanding of player development, team management, and fostering team success.

Throughout his career, Jason has received numerous coaching awards with various minor hockey associations, recognizing his dedication, leadership, and ability to inspire young athletes.

In 2019–2020, Jason coached the Renfrew Timberwolves Junior B team to an impressive 25-14-5 record, earning 55 points and securing a playoff spot. Following this success, he transitioned to Whitewater Junior B in 2020–2021, where he spent two years building the program. Under his guidance, Whitewater made its first playoff appearance in franchise history.

Jason returned to the Valley Timberwolves Junior B team for the 2021–2022 season, taking on a team that managed just three wins that year. By the following season (2022–2023), Jason had transformed the team, leading them to 18 wins and a playoff appearance. His efforts played a key role in bringing the team back to Renfrew, where he laid the foundation for its continued growth.

Now serving as Head Coach of the Renfrew Wolves Junior A team, Jason is excited to build on his past successes and bring his passion and leadership to the next level. He also remains enthusiastic about the progress of the Junior B team and is eager to see what they can achieve this year.

Jason is deeply connected to the community, actively participating in local initiatives and events. By day, he works on his family’s dairy farm, where he demonstrates the same commitment and work ethic that he brings to the rink.

With his deep roots in the region and a proven track record of coaching success, Jason Gould continues to be a vital part of the Renfrew Wolves organization and a valued leader both on and off the ice.
